David Yardley

As a performer, he delivers “a vocal sound world that truly transports the listener to another realm”. He has performed as a soloist across the UK, the US and Australia, including at the Medieval Music in the Dales Festival, in Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center, and in numerous concert series. He has also performed with outstanding ensembles, including the choirs of Southwark Cathedral, London; Jesus College, Cambridge; St Thomas’ 5th Avenue, New York, St James’ Church, King Street, Sydney; and many more.
His three critically acclaimed albums of compositions have been called 'transcendent medieval-inspired music for modern times' that 'transports our ears back to the medieval world'. With over sixty original secular and sacred compositions, his new music, for choirs, small ensembles and soloists, draws on medieval texts, as well as contemporary fantasy, weaving old and new together for a unique, captivating sound.
Launched in 2026, he is also founder and director of professional medieval music group Green Dragon Guild of London, made up of five soloists with rare expertise in medieval music. David studied at the University of Cambridge and the University of Sydney.
Biography
Immersed in Medieval and Renaissance music since his teenage years, David Yardley is a countertenor, medieval harpist, director and composer.
