Ensemble CuBaroque

Founded in 2019, CuBaroque is an early music group formed by María de Lourdes Pomares (violin and viola), Karen Hernandez (organ, harpsichord, voice) and María Teresa Lusson (viola, violin and viola da gamba). All three of us are Cuban and we met in university where we got acquainted because of our love for early music.

Our group’s aim is to perform high quality early music to the best of our abilities and add a pinch of our cultural heritage in the process. As Cuban blood runs through our veins, we work with the experimentation of combining early music with Cuban traditional and Afrocuban folkloric music. We hope that through this fusion we can help expose new people to early music.
