Green Dragon Guild of London
This combination of surviving medieval remnants and contemporary imagination reflects the heart of the Guild’s unique artistic vision.
It is an exciting new take on medieval and modern music, presenting evocative works from the 12th to 15th centuries as well as contemporary compositions that are medieval-inspired, brought to life through new creative possibilities flowing from early music scholarship and historically-informed performance practice.
Directed by David Yardley (countertenor, medieval harpist, composer), the Guild comprises internationally acclaimed musicians with specialisation in medieval music. Alongside David, the founding members are Juliette Primrose (vielle), Dr Leah Stuttard (medieval harps), Richard de Winter (bass, narration) and David de Winter (tenor).
At Guild performances, be immersed in an array of textures and evocative performances, from refined courtly songs to rowdy taverns via otherworldly music of spiritual reflection. Performances evoke many aspects of the vibrant, complex lives of medieval people and their fantasy descendants.
Curated with knowledge and passion, Guild performances encourage reflection not just on history, but on its relevance as a source of solace and inspiration in modern life.
The Guild performs primarily in stunning medieval and historic spaces in London, the UK and beyond. In 2026, we are delighted to present three concerts in St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, London (Holy Sepulchre, London, the National Musicians’ Church).
Our launch concert – Of Angels and Avatars – is on Friday 17 April 2026 at 7.30 pm (see upcoming concerts below)

Biography
London's newest medieval music group, Green Dragon Guild, is named after Green Dragon Court, the ancient street in central London that winds around the surviving medieval corner of Southwark Cathedral. But since that time, many green dragons of contemporary fantasy have appeared too, like the Green Dragon Inn, the mythical Tolkien location where the quest to the Lonely Mountain begins.
This combination of surviving medieval remnants and contemporary imagination reflects the heart of the Guild’s unique artistic vision.
