KontraBande

After a period of time abroad, living and working, countertenor Charles Humphries decided, on his return to the UK, that he would 'get the band back together'. Individually, each member has played with some of the finest ensembles, both as concertmaster and/or rank and file, and alongside Humphries' experience, it is this culmination of brilliance that makes Kontrabande so valuable and worth hearing and supporting.
Initially offering programmes with just solo voice it is the intention that the group expands and augments depending on repertoire - adding singers for Purcell odes or Bach cantatas or diminishing with more intimate performances of three instruments and voice when required.
Members:
Charles Humphries countertenor, director
Julia Bishop violin
Rebecca Bell violin
Jan Schlapp viola
Catherine Rimer cello
David Wright keyboards
