Kate Conway

Kate Conway studied the viola da gamba and baroque cello with Jonathan Manson at the Royal Academy of Music, after reading Classics at Jesus College, Cambridge. A keen chamber musician, she is a member of Ensemble Molière, who are the current BBC New Generation Baroque Ensemble, supported by BBC Radio 3, the National Centre for Early Music and the Royal College of Music. Kate also performs with Ceruleo, who have recently released their first disc for Inventa/Resonus, and with Chelys Consort of Viols, who made their Wigmore Hall debut in 2019 and record regularly for BIS.

Kate has played with the English Baroque Soloists, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and English Touring Opera, and is a former participant of the Handel House Talent Scheme. She was twice a recipient of the RAM Nancy Nuttall ensembles prize, and now coaches the Academy’s viol consort.
