Katie Lewis

Katie has recently completed studies in historical performance at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Katharina Spreckelsen. She previously studied music at Newnham College, Cambridge, and oboe performance at the Royal Northern College of Music.

She currently freelances with many of the country’s leading period instrument ensembles, including Arcangelo, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Gabrielli Players. She has recently been a Britten Pears Young Artist (2018-19) and a member of Handel House Talent (2019-21), and is the regular principal oboe with Eboracum Baroque, with whom she frequently performs as a soloist.

She greatly enjoys exploring music from the baroque period from a dance perspective as well as that of music, combining the two in a range of music education settings.
