Mary Mohan

Cello, Vielle, Viola da Gamba, Viols, Voice

Mary Mohan is a lower strings specialist based in the Midlands. She plays cello, Baroque cello, viola da gamba, treble viol, Renaissance viol and Medieval vielles. In addition she sings, plays historic recorders, Medieval bagpipes, and a variety of percussion as needed.

Mary studied cello under Chris Hoyle at the University of Huddersfield and viola da gamba under Jacqui Robertson-Wade and Alison Kinder. She directs Archaedium, a group that specialises in Medieval music, and plays with Piva Renaissance Collective, as well as other freelance work.

Mary lives in Birmingham with her wife, dogs and growing instrument collection.
