Roberta Diamond

Voice

Raised on Gadigal Land in Australia, Roberta is passionate about communicating through song.

Roberta is especially interested in working with lesser known repertoire and musical traditions, giving them new breath and new audiences.

Roberta studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Switzerland and at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. She has sung live on BBC Radio 3 and performed at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Handel House and Wigmore Hall. She has appeared at the London Handel Festival, the Utrecht Festival Oude Muziek, Mars en Baroque, Greenwich Early Music Festival Trigonale Festival der Alten Musik and the International Festival of Baroque Music in Bolivia. Roberta has sung under the direction of many leading artists in her field including Dame Emma Kirkby, Andrea Marcon, Gabriel Garrido and John Butt. In Australia Roberta performs regularly with Pinchgut Opera.

Recent roles include Amore in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Minerva and Giunone in Monteverdi’s Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria, Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galatea, Diane in Charpentier's Actéon changé en biche, Anima in Hildegard von Bingen’s Ordo Virtutum, Cupid in Blow’s Venus and Adonis, Céphise in Rameau’s Pygmalion and Atalanta in Handel’s Serse.

Roberta also enjoys collaborating with folk musicians in cross-cultural projects and especially enjoys singing in Spanish and Arabic, which she studied in her undergraduate degree.
