Taking its name from the musicians who played in one of the the first public concert series in London, the Harmonious Society of Tickle-Fiddle Gentlemen have focussed on bringing neglected masterpieces to the public. Their pioneering recordings have won awards around the globe and they have performed at some of Europe's most prestigious music festivals, including Utrecht, Regensburg, Valletta, Stour and others. Described on BBC Radio 3 as 'purveyors of uplifting and exhilarating music' on German radio (BR Klassik) as 'a star-studded ensemble', the group made its post-Covid return with a sold-out performance of Pepusch's Venus and Adonis, ranking them, according to BachTrack 'among the world's finest'. In April 2023 they recorded their fifth CD, this time of Italianate sacred music by Pepusch, composed for the Duke of Chandos.
