Trio Notturno

Trio Notturno was formed to explore the repertoire composed in the late 18th & early 19th centuries for flute, viola and guitar. The guitar had a vogue in Vienna at that time and many composers wrote and arranged for this combination of instruments. Performing on period instruments, Trio Notturno bring to modern ears works by Molino, Diabelli, Ludwig Berger (teacher of the Mendelssohn children) and Matiegka, who also arranged Beethoven's string trio in D major for this combination.

Trio Notturno experiment with combining chamber music and spoken poetry (also a vogue of this period) and have premiered a contemporary piece based on a poem by Alexander Pushkin in which Jamie plays the 9-string romantic guitar.
