Bach: St John Passion
JS Bach’s St John Passion is a timeless masterpiece of sacred music and is one of his most deeply felt works.

First performed in 1724, Bach’s vivid retelling of Christ’s betrayal and crucifixion is characterised by dramatic storytelling and music of immense emotional power. Recitatives, arias, choruses and chorales are skilfully interwoven to convey the themes of human suffering, sorrow and redemption alongside passages of quiet reflection. Its profound spiritual depth and wonderful, moving music continues to enthral audiences worldwide.

The performance will be sung in English, with a period-instrument orchestra.
