What we now call piano music was often written for instruments which sounded quite different. For the first recital of the festival, Dan Tidhar presents a journey through Baroque and Classical keyboard works on the instruments for which they were originally written: harpsichord, organ and fortepiano.
Beginning with composers of the late Renaissance and early Baroque, such as Henry Purcell, Dan will proceed to the keyboard masters of the late Baroque – JS Bach, François Couperin and Jacques Duphly – and then into the new aesthetic of the Classical era with CPE Bach and Mozart.
