Lute songs by John Dowland

Compositions as originally envisaged, for group singing with the lute.

Lute songs by John Dowland
Lute-song ensemble Dowland's Foundry present songs from John Dowland's first book of songs (1597). Though usually performed by a solo singer accompanied by lute, these compositions were originally envisaged for group singing with the lute. Known as an 'unquiet' soul, Dowland in his songs reveals a wise approach to fortune’s vicissitudes, and a redeeming merry melancholy.
