Musical interactions between Ming and Qing Dynasty China and their European contemporaries in a global age of cultural cross-currents. Music by Cabezón, Gabrieli, Caccini, Purcell, Pedrini and Rameau which we know were or may have been performed in China; music from anonymous Chinese sources from the 17th century and in transcriptions by European visitors and settlers in the 18th century; to counterpoint this we also have music by three world travellers to London in the 18th century: Loum Kiqua, who visited from Canton, Ignatius Sancho (born on a trans-Atlantic slave ship) and Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint Georges (born in Guadeloupe to a French father and a former slave mother from Senegal).
