Haydn and Mozart

Playing on gut strings and period bows brings rich musical rewards to the Chiaroscuro Quartet, broadening its bounds of expression and enabling subtle refinements of phrasing. It draws on its long and fruitful experience of performing and recording Haydn in a first half illuminated by two quartets from the composer’s ground-breaking Op. 20 and is joined after the interval by Nicolas Baldeyrou and his period clarinet in one of Mozart’s supreme masterworks.
