Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno

Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno
Composed during his transformative years in Rome, at a point in time when opera was banned by the Pope, Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (the Triumph of Time and Disillusionment) is Handel’s debut oratorio and a true landmark of the Baroque era. This mythical gem is a tale of love, choice, temptation, and fate, and features some of Handel’s most dazzling, virtuosic and emotive music.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Peter Whelan, the Irish Baroque Orchestra makes its London Handel Festival debut. Together they are widely heralded as one of the most exciting musical partnerships in Europe. They are joined for this performance by a stellar line-up of soloists, including two of the most recent winners of the International Handel Singing Competition.
