Full Event Details
La Tirana premieres at the Handel and Hendrix House, an innovative program featuring forgotten works from the Iberian heritage: the first cello sonatas preserved in Spain. These rarely performed pieces are anonymous and come from a handwritten Madrilenian notebook kept at Santa María del Pi (Barcelona), dedicated to a mysterious Jaime (James). Their style offers a fascinating and original glimpse into a repertoire far removed from the margins of standard musicology, which is typically focused on Central Europe.
La Tirana will offer a fresh interpretation of a repertoire without expectations but which demands great technical attention, improvisational creativity, preludes, ornamentation, and instrumental declamation.
