Laudonia

The Thistle and the Rose

A delightful programme of Scottish and English songs for soprano and lute.

Susan Hamilton (soprano), Matthew Wadsworth (lute)
The Thistle and the Rose
Laudonia presents 'The Thistle and the Rose' with Scottish soprano Susan Hamilton and English lutenist Matthew Wadsworth. In an intimate programme, we celebrate some of the most beautiful repertoire for voice and lute from the British Isles including songs by Robert Burns and John Dowland, the celebrated English Renaissance composer and lutenist.

"In a world that can often feel divided, music has the unique ability to bring people together. When we listen to this beautiful music from Scotland and England, we are reminded of our shared humanity. We are transported to a place where language, nationality, and background fade into the background, and what remains is the pure, unadulterated expression of the human soul."
