For the Autumn concert on October 27 2024, in the Great Hall of Leeds University Leeds Baroque, directed by Peter Holman, continue their exploration of Henry Purcell's work with two of his grandest Odes - the Birthday Ode for Queen Mary (1691) 'Welcome glorius morn' and the Ode for St Cecilia's day (1692) 'Hail Bright Cecilia'.These works are richly scored for strings, woodwind, trumpets and timpani with demanding vocal solo roles for which we have engaged four notable soloist Philippa Hyde (soprano) Francis Gush (counter tenor) Charles Daniels (tenor) and Stuart O'Hara (bass).
