Taverner Consort and Players
Taverner Symposium 2026
What do we think we know? ‘Early’ music (and beyond) — the past, present and future

Much has happened since Taverner’s music-making began in 1973, and it is once more time to take stock. What does ‘early’ music have to teach us about music-making in general? Have we fully grasped the implications of what we do know about ‘early’ music? Where is all this heading, and are we nearly there yet?
This symposium is open to all, and entrance is FREE (though donations can be accepted). RSVPs are encouraged via the Book Tickets button. Suggested topics will be considered for inclusion.

Over the years Andrew Parrott (together with his Taverner team) has hosted a series of symposia, each designed to bring together diverse musical parties—performers & researchers, students & veterans, professionals & non-professionals—for a free-flowing and lively interchange of ideas on all manner of issues affecting 'early' (and non-early) music, from performance conventions to its place in society today and in the future.
