Eucharist for the Feast of All Saints - a unique liturgical service in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Anton Bruckner

On Sunday November 3rd Leicester Cathedral hosts a special service to celebrate the work of Romantic composer, Anton Bruckner. This will take the form of a liturgical Eucharist service, featuring music by Bruckner for voices and trombones.

In their first collaboration, The Concert Trombone Quartette will join forces with the Senior Girls and Songmen of Leicester Cathedral Choir to perform movements of Bruckner’s Mass in E minor in a liturgical context as well as additional instrumental antiphons by the CTQ.

This unique service features original Romantic style trombones from the very time of Bruckner, in an historically informed performance; offering a unique soundscape and timbre that Bruckner himself would have been familiar with. Furthermore, these very trombones were used to perform a Bruckner motet 'Ecce Sacerdos' for the Coronation of King Charles III, May 2023, courtesy of Leicester-born bass trombonist, Adrian France & The Concert Trombone Quartette.
