English Haydn Orchestra
The Creation

Of all the compositions that Haydn wrote he certainly demonstrated to his contemporaries, and the World, that he was a master at writing musical illustrations of ‘Life’, starting with his ‘explosion’ of the word “Light” sung by the choir, with a powerful orchestral C major chord, at the opening phrase of ‘The Creation’. This masterpiece of choral music is littered with great images of the birth of ‘Life’ itself, depicting with operatic style, the interaction of humans and animals in a ‘New World’.
