The Salomon String Quartet, formed in 1981, is established as one of the world's leading ensembles specialising in the historical performances of the Classical string quartet repertoire.

SIMON STANDAGE is well known as a virtuoso violinist specialising in 17th and 18th-century music. Leader and soloist with the English Haydn Orchestra, he also fulfilled the same role for many years with the City of London Sinfonia. He has recorded solo and chamber music, including all of Mozart’s violin concertos with the Academy of Ancient Music. In 2008 he received a medal for services to Polish culture, was awarded Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music in 2009, and in 2010 received the Geog Philipp Telemann Prize from the city of Magdeburg, Germany. In 1981 he was a founder of the Salomon Quartet with Micaela Comberti, Trevor Jones,and Jennifer Ward Clarke.

CATHERINE MARTIN specialises in historical violin playing, covering repertoire from the early 1600s to the end of the 19th century. She spent twelve years as a member of The English Concert under the direction of Trevor Pinnock, before leaving in 2005 to take up the post of leader of the Gabrieli Consort and Players. In 2010 Catherine was also appointed concertmaster of Die Kölner Akademie in Germany. She has been the leader of the orchestra of the Early Opera Company since its inception. Catherine was invited by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in 2012 to coach the players on baroque and classical repertoire. She also runs weekend workshops and concert performances with many amateur baroque and modern chamber orchestras who wish to know more about the field of historical performance.

ADAM ROMER is a Hungarian violist who is the section leader of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. He teaches at the Birmingham Conservatoire and performs with the Salomon historical string quartet and the Folktone band. He gave a master class at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in 2019.

ANDREW SKIDMORE​'s interest in historical performance spans from the 17th to 20th centuries. He is a member and regular guest principal of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, principal with Collegium Musicum 90 and Ex Cathedra and plays regularly as a guest principal, continuo cellist and in chamber music with groups including the Dunedin Consort, Arcangelo, Gabrieli Consort and Players, Early Opera Company, The Academy of Ancient Music, Music for Awhile, Jupiter Ensemble, Irish Baroque Orchestra, The Sixteen, Ensemble Marsyas, Taverner Consort and Players and Classical Opera Company.
