Instruments of Time and Truth

Zelenka Requiem, Benda Flute Concerto & Vanhal Symphony in G

Masterpieces from 18th-Century Bohemia

Zelenka Requiem, Benda Flute Concerto & Vanhal Symphony in G
Instruments of Time and Truth presents Jan Dismas Zelenka's rarely heard but magnificent Requiem, scored for voices and an exotic array of instrumental colours, conducted by Edward Higginbottom.

Zelenka was born in Bohemia - modern day Czechia - and we’re rounding out the programme with instrumental works by two other notable 18th-Century Bohemians: a flute concerto by Franz Benda (with soloist Jonathan Slade), and a symphony by Jan Krtitel Vanhal.

Instruments of Time and Truth are Oxford’s own period instrument orchestra, presenting world-class performances of Baroque and Classical music in Oxford and around the UK.
