BARNSTORMING!
— exciting and energetic. The term earned its name from the daring aerobatic pilots who would land their light planes in fields and use local barns as venues for their impromptu airshows.
(Cambridge Dictionary)
Barnstorming! was born out of the desire to reconnect with colleagues and audiences during the COVID pandemic. The Consone Quartet planned three filmed concerts at three different barns around the country, back in 2021. The videos below will give you a taste. The Schubert Octet was recorded at the Tithe Barn in Syde, Gloucestershire whilst the Schumann Quartet was filmed at Hurlands Barn in Surrey; both videos were made with the fantastic audio/visual team of Jessie Rodger and Brett Cox. The project was supported by Continuo Foundation.
In the Schubert Octet, the Consone Quartet—featuring Agata Daraškaitė (violin), Magdalena Loth-Hill (violin), Elitsa Bogdanova (viola), and George Ross (cello)—is joined by Carina Cosgrave (double bass), James Maltby (clarinet), Joe Qiu (bassoon), and Anneke Scott (horn).
Franz Schubert Octet, D. 803, V. Menuetto. Allegretto – Trio – Menuetto – Coda
Robert Schumann String Quartet in A minor, Op.41, No.1 - II Scherzo: Presto
Robert Schumann String Quartet in A minor, Op.41, No.1 - III Adagio
The Consone Quartet have a busy season ahead, and upcoming concerts are listed on the Consone Quartet profile page.
