FIRST PUBLISHED 6 JUN 2025

Baroque specialist La Serenissima return with Crossing Borders, an album illustrating the significant cultural links between 18th-century composers in Germany and Italy, featuring little-known chamber works by Brescianello and Schreyfogel, with music by Sieber, Vivaldi and Telemann, including the latter's foot-stamping double concerto for flute and recorder. Their second CD release of 2025, and 11th album with Signum Classics, the album explores how the composers' styles changed and developed as they ‘crossed borders’ among Italy, Germany, France and other European countries. Musicians include recorder player Tabea Debus and flautist Katy Bircher performing from new editions by Adrian Chandler.

La Serenissima is ‘one of Britain’s best-loved chamber orchestras’ (The Telegraph) known for their outstanding performances, championing a host of neglected Italian baroque composers. Uniquely, the group’s entire repertoire is edited from source material by founder and violinist, Adrian Chandler.

Released on 13 June 2025, the album will be available to purchase on the Signum Records label and to stream on Spotify. This recording project was supported by a grant from Continuo Foundation.
