About

Hearing a concert in St Cecilia's Hall is a unique experience. Not only does the elliptical shape of this Georgian concert hall from 1763 naturally amplify the sounds of early instruments, but many of our concerts are performed on original period instruments from the University of Edinburgh's world-renowned musical instrument collection.

Past performances include Mahan Esfahani exploring the lush sound of the Taskin harpsichord from 1769, Fretwork’s Take Five programme and Les Cuivres Romantiques featuring Jean-Francois Madeuf performing on brass instruments from the eighteenth century.

Throughout the year there is plenty to see and hear in Scotland’s oldest concert hall.
