Concert: Music for the Sun King's Sleep

continuo logoSupported by a grant from Continuo Foundation

In collaboration with Sands Films Studios, Hex are joined by harpsichordist, David Wright, for part 4 of their series 'Festival of the Sun King':

Escape the cares and stress of running the country with an intimate concert inspired by the musicians of the King's private chamber. In an age where only the aristocracy could afford to choose the music they listened to, we explore the private side to this grandeur. Elegant suites from royal lutenist Robert de Visee (guitar teacher to Louis XV) are twinned with lullabies by Julie Pinel. We explore delicate sommeils, sleep scenes from operas and calm works by Marais written for the king's private delectation.
