continuo logoSupported by a grant from Continuo Foundation

In collaboration with Sands Films Studios, part 2 of Hex's series 'Festival of the Sun King':
Relive the remarkable life of Marin Marais through music inspired by the 1991 film 'Tous les Matins du Monde', screened earlier this week and which made Jordi Savall world famous. Known as the Angel of the Viola da Gamba, Marais' work and life as seen through this film was a huge inspiration to musicians across the world. This concert includes work by the reclusive St Colombe his teacher, the flashy variations on La Folia by the young Marais, the ruminatory Sonnerie de Saint Genevieve du Mont-de-Paris and the devastating Tombeau written to commemorate his son.
