Trio Notturno

They Came to Vienna

Music composed for the Salons of 19th century Vienna

They Came to Vienna
In the unique ambience of 33, Hampstead Lane, Trio Notturno presents a programme of music originally designed for the salons of early 19th century Vienna. The guitar enjoyed enormous popularity at this time, encouraging many composers to write and arrange music for guitarists as both solo and chamber music performers. The combination with flute and viola is particularly delectable. Jamie Akers reveals the guitar in its historical and geographical diversity, with 9 and 10 stringed instruments as well as 6 string Viennese guitar, alongside Eva Caballero (flute) and Rachel Stott (viola) on period instruments. The programme combines music by familiar names such as Beethoven and Diabelli with their lesser-known friends and compatriots, as well as a recent composition specially written for Trio Notturno.
