Arcangelo invites auditions for period-instrument development scheme

The leading period-instrument ensemble, Arcangelo has announced audition dates for the next edition of its New Ensemblists development scheme, taking place 19-21 January 2026 at Jerwood Space, London.
The ensemble is inviting applications from string, wind, brass and continuo players with experience in, or a strong commitment to, historically informed performance of Baroque and Classical repertoire.
As well as adding to Arcangelo’s pool of freelance musicians, the auditions will select three to four outstanding emerging players to join the 2026–28 New Ensemblists cohort. Now in its fourth edition, the programme offers two seasons of tailored mentoring, professional support, and performing opportunities with Arcangelo’s core players and director Jonathan Cohen.

Founded in 2010, Arcangelo is one of the UK’s most acclaimed and respected period-instrument ensembles. Known for its vibrant, communicative playing and award-winning recordings, the group collaborates regularly with artists including Iestyn Davies, Christiane Karg and Nicolas Altstaedt, and appears at leading venues such as Wigmore Hall, the BBC Proms, and the Salzburg Festival.
